This past Sunday Pastor John-Mark introduced our next series on the book of James, called “Source Code.” James is writing to Jewish Christians in the early church, reminding them that being disciples of Jesus is about living a new way of life. Within a very short time, Christian communities were already feeling the draw to modify their beliefs and change their priorities–to corrupt the “source code” of Jesus’ teaching.
For James, Jesus’ teaching and life in the Spirit fulfills the goals of the Old Testament: to live wisely in shalom–that to live “before God” could result in right relationships with Him, with our fellow humans, and with God’s created world.
John-Mark encouraged us to read through James this week (all five chapters) to see how verse 1:27 points to the four key themes (wisdom, trials, class and loyalty) found throughout this letter.

During today's service, we set aside time to pray for our Management and Leadership teams, commissioning them for their work and ministry in the church. You can access the slides of the liturgy we used HERE.
We also took a moment to pray for the Search Committee as they seek God's direction in hiring a new senior pastor. The prayer can be viewed HERE.
